Foojay exists because Java developers, JDK engineers and vendors who otherwise compete with each other are willing to write and read in the same place. That only works if the place is one people from any background, company or experience level want to be in.
This page says what we expect from anyone who submits an article, opens a pull request, leaves a comment, or takes part in a Foojay podcast or event — and what happens if that expectation isn’t met.
What we expect
- Stay vendor-neutral in spirit. Foojay is not a platform for any single company. Disagree with a technical choice, a benchmark or another vendor’s approach if you have grounds to — but argue the technical point, not the company or the person behind it.
- Assume good faith, and extend the same courtesy you’d want. Disagreement, code review and blunt technical feedback are normal here and welcome. Personal attacks, insults, and dismissing someone because of their experience level, employer, nationality, gender, or any other personal characteristic are not.
- No harassment. This includes unwelcome sexual attention, deliberate intimidation, stalking, sustained disruption of discussions, and publishing others’ private information without consent.
- Credit sources and tell the truth about content. Don’t submit plagiarised writing, fabricated benchmarks, or an article whose main purpose is advertising rather than teaching something.
- Keep it on topic. Comments and articles should engage with the Java/JVM/Developer subject at hand; unrelated promotion, spam, and vote/traffic manipulation aren’t welcome.
Where this applies
Everywhere Foojay is the venue: articles and their frontmatter, pull requests and issues on github.com/foojayio/website, comments on articles, and Foojay-run podcast recordings or events. It also covers private communication (email, direct messages) between participants when it concerns Foojay.
Enforcement
The editorial team reviews reported issues and decides on a response proportionate to what happened — from a note asking someone to rephrase, through edits or removal of the offending content, to no longer accepting contributions from someone who repeats the behaviour after being asked to stop. Deliberate harassment or targeting of an individual can result in an immediate and permanent block, without a warning first.
This is separate from, and doesn’t replace, the content and account provisions in the Terms of Use — for example, the terms' restrictions on scraping, spam, or infringing content still apply regardless of this page.
Reporting a problem
If something you’ve read, received, or seen happen on foojay.io doesn’t sit right, tell us. You don’t need to be the target of it yourself, and you don’t need to have a polished case, a specific page and what happened is enough.

We’ll acknowledge your report, look into it, and let you know what we did. We won’t share who reported it without asking first.
